The Old Cuchillo Bar and Store property suffered a devastating fire in 2000, leaving the roof missing in several rooms and allowing the elements to penetrate the historic adobe mud walls. These old adobe walls are quickly deteriorating with the New Mexico monsoonal rains. In Summer of 2008 the rains deteiorated the adobe, and part of the rock facade fell into the porch area.
